Würzburg / Munich - Anyone who works or visits a retirement home must regularly take a corona test * - even if the residents are vaccinated.

A geriatric nurse and a relative of a resident now want to overturn this test obligation before the Bavarian Administrative Court (VGH).

"It is not yet possible to predict when a decision will be made," said a VGH spokeswoman on Thursday (February 4th).

If the urgent application is successful, the obligation to test would initially be suspended throughout Bavaria.

The senior citizens' facilities in the Würzburg district support the applications in court.

Almost all residents there are now vaccinated against the corona virus *.

"The risk of a life-threatening illness and a large Corona * outbreak is thus very likely averted," the operator explained in a message.

The tests are still mandatory, although they are a great burden for nurses and relatives.

"Injuries are common and many visitors are reducing their visits for fear of the tests," the statement said.

Employees in retirement and nursing homes in the Free State have to be tested three times a week.

Every visitor must also present a negative test result in advance - regardless of whether the residents are vaccinated or not.
