Conductor Rick Peperkamp would like to found his own orchestra.

It already has a name: Amper Philharmonic.

Now he's looking for musicians.

The Dutchman who lives in Munich has a special relationship with the river.

Peperkamp's first engagement in the region was the management of the Grafrath-Kottgeisering music association.

For three years, his way to rehearsals took him along the Amper every Tuesday evening.

He often stopped at a certain point, enjoyed the sight of nature and the "almost magical, relaxing impression" that the Amper made on him.

Now the river is said to be the godfather of his own orchestra.

The 31-year-old did some research and found that “there is still no orchestra with the Amper in its name”.

Everything else has yet to be found.

Peperkamp is looking for musicians from the entire Ammer-Amper region between Weilheim and Moosburg.

Motivated laypeople can feel addressed as well as music students and professionals.

An association is to be founded as an organizational structure.

Accordingly, Peperkamp also needs interested parties who would be willing to take on board positions.

The 31-year-old, who also directs the Passau University Orchestra and has performed as a guest conductor in the Czech Republic, Switzerland and London, can imagine a large symphonic line-up with 80 musicians as well as a chamber orchestra with 35 people.

He strives for a high musical level and has already thought about the repertoire.

Late classical and late romantic works should be part of it, preferably those that have been wrongly forgotten.

“I want to make things known again that have slumbered in libraries for 100 years.” To underline the reference to the Amper, the trombonist and teacher for deep brass also thinks of pieces that were inspired by nature.

"There are examples from Tchaikovsky, Camille Saint-Saens and even Mozart."

If there are enough interested parties, the new orchestra could be on stage for the first time in autumn.

The rehearsals should be compact and project by project so that the geographical distances do not become a problem for the musicians.

For Peperkamp one thing is certain: The first concert should take place somewhere at the Amper (if you are interested, you can contact the orchestra founder at peperkamprick1989 @ gmail.com.).
