In order to cope with the sea-crossing section of the Shazhong Line, MTR has updated the East Rail Line signal system and arranged for future extensions to cross the sea. The new signal system will be officially put into service tomorrow (6th). Under the new system, although there are new trains serving passengers, there are also trains that will bid farewell to the East Rail Line, including the "Thousand Nine Trains," which is very popular among railway fans. However, the public need not lose, because the "departing" Qianjiu trains will be regrouped in the future and continue to run on the Tuen Ma Line to serve the public. In addition to the "Thousand Nine Trains", the American diesel-electric locomotives, commonly known as "Chaitou" that have served the East Rail Line since the 1960s, also bid farewell to the citizens on the same day.

The Qianjiu train is mainly made of stainless steel. The front of the train is streamlined. The upper display screen will show the terminal station in red letters.

The Qianjiu train among the railway fans is the Kinki Kawasaki train. The KCRC purchased it from the "Itochu-Kinki-Kawasaki Consortium" of Japan in 1999. Because the contract number is "SP1900", it won the "Qianjiu".

The train is designed and manufactured by Japan's Kinki Vehicles and Kawasaki Heavy Industries; ITOCHU Corporation acts as an intermediary for the transaction, so MTR will also call it "IKK Train", which is the initials of the English names of the three companies.

Qianjiu Train is the third-generation electric train that runs on East Rail, West Rail and Ma On Shan Line (and the first phase of the Tuen Ma Line).

In addition to the contract number "SP1900", the KCRC and MTR have also purchased trains of the same type after the contract, such as the contracts "SP1950", "KRS991", etc., but they are collectively referred to as Qianjiu trains.

In addition, Qianjiu is the first new train of the KCRC when it enters the 21st century, so it is also known as the "Century Train". When the new trains were put into service, the KCRC once launched the "KCRC Century Train Commemorative Ticket."

According to the information, the KCRC purchased 250-calorie "Qianjiu" carriages for 3.1 billion yuan that year, of which 96 cards were the first to serve on the East Rail in 2001; the remaining 154 cards then arrived in Hong Kong and traveled on the West Rail Line.

The Qianjiu train is mainly made of stainless steel, with red doors and a streamlined front. The upper display will show the terminal in red.

Before the merger of the two railways, there was a KCRC logo on the front of the train, but after the merger, the red MTR logo was affixed to "Change of Dynasty".

In addition, although the original KCRC stations and facilities were gradually "MTR" in the past, the KCRC logo is still faintly visible on the body of Qianjiu.

Yang Qiyan, then chairman of the KCRC, once pointed out that the Qianjiu Train has a regenerative braking system that can feed braking power back to the power supply system, saving 25% of energy.

He also pointed out that the apron panels installed at the bottom of both sides of the train can block and reduce the noise generated by the train. The bottom of the train is also covered with sound-absorbing materials to make the inside and outside of the train more quiet.

Although the Qianjiu train will bid farewell to the East Rail Line, the public need not be lost because according to the MTR, the five Qianjiu trains currently running on the East Rail Line will be modified later and will run on the Tuen Ma Line in the future; they are currently on the West Rail Line. The Qianjiu train on the first phase of the Tunma Line will also run as usual.

In addition to the "Thousand Nine Trains," under the new signal system, the American diesel-made electric locomotives commonly known as "Chaitou" will also bid farewell to the East Rail Line and officially retired.

Looking at the information, in 1961, KCRC introduced G16 diesel-electric locomotives from E Andy of the United States, numbered 56 to 59, used to pull passenger cars; by 1974, KCRC introduced three newer G26 models. Locomotives, numbered 60 to 62.

These 7 locomotives are the "chai tou" in the mouth of railway fans.

By 1983, when the train was electrified, the role of the firewood was changed to haul trucks; by 2010, the railway freight was also stopped, so the firewood was changed to a construction truck.

Until February 16, 2021, the diesel head was officially decommissioned due to its many years of history and no new signal system components.
