Romain Boivin, 34, was arrested following a European arrest warrant issued by Belgium, according to the public prosecutor's office.
He is wanted for having stolen from a wine merchant in Brussels, in 2019, bottles of grands crus for a total value of 20,000 euros, the same source said.
The man, who lives in Beaune (Côte d'Or), was already known for fraud.
He was notably sentenced, in April 2017 by the Dijon Criminal Court, to six months in prison for having, from a company established in Brussels, sold false labeled grands crus from the prestigious Joseph Roty de Gevrey-Chambertin estate, while the bottles contained marsannay, a much more common wine. The chamber authorized his transfer to Belgium but at the end of a trial which starts on February 18 in Bordeaux, where he will appear for domestic violence.
