The death toll from the corona virus in Israel has exceeded 5,000 since the outbreak, the Ministry of Health announced last night (Friday).

This is after less than three weeks ago, 4,000 deaths from the virus were registered in Israel.

Crossing the current threshold of death, comes in the midst of the third wave of the plague and the tight closure imposed on the public.



Concurrent with the rise in the death toll, 7,385 people were diagnosed in Corona in the last day.

As a result, the number of people infected in the country rose to 671,459 from the outbreak.

Yesterday, results were obtained for 85,925 tests, with the percentage of positive for the virus being 8.9%.

The data comes against the background of a cabinet meeting where we discussed extending the current closure, which is due to end tomorrow.

The number of active patients is 76,896.
