The government has determined that Ben Gurion Airport will remain closed for 14 days - and has approved entry and exit regulations from Israel • How can a flight be booked? And who can apply to the Exceptions Committee?

The Israeli government last night approved the extension of entry and exit regulations to 14 days.

Ben-Gurion Airport will remain closed until the end of the extension period, and inbound or outbound flights will be allowed according to the following guide:

The criteria of the Exceptions Committee regarding leaving Israel:

• Receive essential medical care that does not suffer from procrastination, for him or for another person who depends on him

• Attendance at the funeral of a first-degree relative

• Assistance to a first-degree relative who is in distress, and who is unable to assist another person who is in the same country

• Reaching a legal proceeding to which the person is a party, has status or is required to take part in it, provided that his remote participation is not appropriate in the circumstances of the case.

• For a vital purpose relating to Israel's foreign relations or national security, with the approval of the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense or the Prime Minister's Office

• A professional athlete as defined in the Restriction of Activities Regulations, for the purpose of participating in the competition and his attendant, is subject to the approval of the Director General of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, provided that the committee is convinced that their departure abroad is essential

The criteria of the Exceptions Committee regarding entry into Israel:

• Receive essential medical care that does not suffer from procrastination, for him or for another person who depends on him

• Participation in the funeral of a first-degree relative, including participation in the funeral of a deceased person brought for burial in Israel

• Assistance to a first-degree relative who is in distress, and who is unable to assist another person who is in Israel

• Arriving at a legal proceeding that the person is a party to, has status in, or is required to participate in, provided that his remote participation is not appropriate in the circumstances of the case.

• A woman in the third trimester of pregnancy

• For a humanitarian or special personal need that requires entry into Israel

• For an essential purpose relating to Israel's foreign relations or for an essential purpose relating to national security, with the approval of the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, or the Prime Minister's Office, as the case may be

• He left Israel legally, according to the restrictions that applied when he left, and his permanent residence in Israel

A person who is not an Israeli citizen or a permanent resident may enter Israel with the approval of the Exceptions Committee, if he wishes to enter for the purpose of one of the following, or where one of the following exists:

• For a humanitarian or special personal need that requires entry into Israel

• For the purpose of the proper management of Israel's foreign relations or for reasons of national security, with the approval of the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense or the Prime Minister's Office.

• A professional athlete as defined in the Restriction of Activities Regulations, for the purpose of participating in the competition, and his accompanying person required to participate in the competition, subject to the approval of the Director General of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, provided the Committee is convinced that your arrival in Israel is essential

• A person who is entitled to immigrant status or immigrant rights and whose immigration cannot be postponed.

A person who is not an Israeli citizen or permanent resident and is a spouse of an Israeli citizen or permanent resident, or a parent of a child who is an Israeli citizen or permanent resident, may enter Israel with the approval of the Exceptions Committee and the reservations regarding a citizen or resident exist.

The procedure will be possible as follows: 

The application to the Exceptions Committee will be made using an online form that will be available on the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Prime Minister and the Population and Immigration Authority, accompanied by relevant documents.

The committee will be composed of representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Health, Diaspora and Tourism.

It will be headed by the Population and Immigration Authority and headed by the Objections Committee (Appeals) will be headed by Minister Tzachi Hanegbi.

The committees will be able to require the applicant to present certificates or documents for proof of his application and for the purpose of deciding it.

Important to know: Anyone who has received an exit / entry permit from a previous committee that acted on the matter, should not request additional permission.
