The suspected driver of a van, which fatally struck a pedestrian and injured another Wednesday in the business district of La Défense, at the gates of Paris, was indicted on Friday evening, the prosecution told AFP from Nanterre.
The man, who would be homeless according to the prosecution, was placed in pre-trial detention.
A judicial investigation was opened for murder, attempted murder and theft.

This man is suspected of having stolen a van then of having collided, for an as yet undetermined reason, two pedestrians before fleeing on foot, according to the facts reported by the Paris police headquarters on Wednesday. The investigation was then entrusted to the judicial police of Nanterre, who had then ruled out, at this stage, the terrorist trail.
