In Saxony, several hundred police officers received a corona vaccination "out of sequence".
As confirmed by the Dresden Police Department, 391 officers have been vaccinated since January 8.
They received the vaccine in the vaccination centers of the city of Dresden, the district of Meißen and the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains.
The Leipzig Police Department also confirms that a total of 43 of their officers were vaccinated up to and including February 4th.
This happened in the vaccination centers of the city of Leipzig, the district of Leipzig and the district of North Saxony.
The vaccination offers were submitted by the German Red Cross, which is responsible for the logistics of the vaccinations in Saxony.
According to the Leipzig police, the German Red Cross has repeatedly offered the police vaccination doses that otherwise would have had to be destroyed: »The Leipzig Police Department is currently used exclusively as a collection organization, which, due to its short-term availability, may receive vaccination doses in the evening that are not intended for people priority vaccination groups can be vaccinated and would otherwise expire.
These are vaccination doses that have been thawed and made ready for use, so that no further storage is possible. «Against this background, the offers were accepted.
The district of Stendal in Saxony-Anhalt recently caused a sensation because it had preferred 320 police officers in the vaccination sequence.
Social Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) criticized the unauthorized action.
She announced that she would admonish the district for the action that was not agreed.
Stendal has since admitted the mistake.
"From a purely legal point of view, it should be noted that the interpretation of the vaccination ordinance made by the district at the time was incorrect," said Sebastian Stoll, the deputy responsible for the vaccination center there, on Friday afternoon.
According to the announcement, Stoll and the Stendal District Administrator Patrick Puhlmann (SPD) had previously worked on the case.
Puhlmann announced that he would "examine the facts consistently and take appropriate measures as a result".
Unless they are seriously ill or very old, police officers do not belong to the first priority group in the vaccination plan.
You may only be vaccinated with it when the very old, seriously ill and the medical staff are fully cared for.
Special regulations apply to police officers who are exposed to an increased risk of infection or who are in a »relevant position« with the police.
