Not only in Israel, but all over the world, attempts are being made to decipher the legal implications of the International Court of Justice's decision in The Hague to recognize "Palestine" as a state with rights in the court under the Treaty of Rome.

In the Arab world, there has been a fairly sweeping silence, since this decision of the tribunal may also affect countries in the Arab League.

One of them, for example, is Morocco, which annexed Western Sahara in 1979.

The territory occupied a significant place in the normalization agreement between Israel and Morocco, under which the United States recognized Rabat's control of the territory and even announced the establishment of a consulate in the provincial capital.

The least feared of the consequences of the decision is the Turkish government, which under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been getting closer to Hamas - and has even given the terrorist organization a significant hostel in Istanbul.

"We welcome the decision of the International Criminal Court that it has jurisdiction over the Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, which has been under Israeli occupation since 1967," the Foreign Ministry said in Ankara.

This decision, according to them, "is a significant step on the way to holding Israel responsible for its crimes in the Palestinian territories and locating those responsible for these crimes."

According to them, "the decision will contribute to the implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution to protect the Palestinian civilian population." This decision was promoted by Turkey during its term as President of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The Turkish Foreign Ministry concluded that "the international community's support for the decision of the Hague Tribunal is of great importance in strengthening Israel's deterrence against its excessive and disproportionate use of force against the Palestinian people."

Meanwhile, Hamas has joined the ranks of Palestinian welcome to the tribunal's decision.

"This is an important step on the road to achieving justice for the victims of the Zionist occupation," the terrorist organization said.

"The more important step is to prosecute Zionist war criminals in international courts for the crimes they committed with their own hands. We call on the international community to help the Palestinian people exercise their rights to freedom, independence and self-determination."
