Police arrested a resident of the city of Nahariya recently (Saturday) on suspicion of throwing a grenade at the home of a Nahariya municipality employee this evening.
There were no casualties in the incident and no damage was done.
Upon receiving the report of the incident at the 100 police station, Nahariya police officers conducted investigative actions, at the end of which they arrested a city resident, in his 30s, on suspicion of committing the act.
Depending on the development of the investigation, the police will decide whether to request an extension of the suspect's detention in the Magistrate's Court in the Krayot tomorrow.
The Nahariya Municipality stated: "Mayor Ronen Marley strongly condemns the throwing of the stun grenade at the home of the director of the municipality's security and public order department. "Injury to a public employee by any party, and municipal activity while maintaining order and security in the city will continue as normal. There will be no bullying in the city and we will not succumb to any pressure. No one will stop us from continuing to work and maintain the security of residents and public order.
The municipality clarified that "the full range of services to the resident wherever they are will continue and the attempts at intimidation and threats will not deter, on the contrary. We will wait for the results of the police investigation and the prosecution of those actually responsible."
The incident took place exactly at the same time as the broadcast of the series "The Policemen" in Keshet 12, which is based on the affair of the avenging policemen from 2006 and deals, among other things, with threats by criminals against Nahariya residents, including municipal employees.
