The Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed with the President of the Libyan Presidential Council Muhammad Manafi during a telephone call today the Libyan and regional situation in light of the results of the work of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.
According to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Bogdanov expressed his hope that the election of the transitional leadership would become an important milestone on the road to overcoming the severe and protracted crisis in the country.
The Russian side also reiterated Moscow's intention to intensify and strengthen multi-faceted Russian-Libyan cooperation on the basis of the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit and traditions of friendship.
