US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Yang Jiechi, Secretary-General of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee on February 5.
Brinken reiterated that the United States will defend its national interests and democratic values and hold Beijing accountable for its abuse of the international system.
Brinken said that the United States will continue to defend human rights and democratic values, including the issues of Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong.
He urged China to join the international community in condemning the coup in Myanmar.
He reiterated that the United States will cooperate with allies to hold China accountable for threats to the stability of the Indo-Pacific, including the Taiwan Strait.
In my call with my counterpart in Beijing, Yang Jiechi, I made clear the US will defend our national interests, stand up for our democratic values, and hold Beijing accountable for its abuses of the international system.
