Will the Tegernsee holiday region soon have a uniform health resort contribution again?

The Bad Wiessee municipal council will soon be discussing a reduction.

The results of a survey are also eagerly awaited.

  • The Tegernsee valley is struggling for a uniform spa tax

  • The Wiesseer council wants to discuss the topic in the February meeting

  • The result of a survey among landlords is now available

Bad Wiessee

- With this decision, the Wiesse municipal council caused an outcry across the valley at the beginning of 2019: Without further ado - and only with a narrow majority - the council increased the spa fee from 2 to 3.30 euros.

With this, the Wiesseer said goodbye to the previous joint course at Tegernsee.

Almost exactly two years later, the holiday region could now find its way back to the old uniformity.

At the next meeting of the municipal council on February 23, the amount of the tourist tax will be discussed again in the Wiesse municipal council.

The other four valley communities have agreed on three euros

There are three euros in the room.

The other four valley communities agreed on this amount over the past year.

The decision as to whether Bad Wiessee will also follow this course will probably also depend on the result of a written survey that the municipality started among the landlords in the autumn.

The hosts should announce whether they want to stay with the 3.30 euros or go back to 3 euros.

The result of this survey is now available.

"It's pretty clear," explains Mayor Robert Kühn (SPD).

The city hall boss does not want to be more specific at this point, because even the council colleagues are not yet informed about the result.

If you ask around in landlord circles, it can be assumed that the survey was in favor of the 3 euros.

Especially since the Bad Wiessee spa and tourist office, representative of the many small and medium-sized accommodation providers in the village, was outraged shortly after the increase about the Wiesse municipal council's going it alone.

Chairman of the tourist association hopes that valley unity will be restored

The association has stuck to this attitude to this day.

"It's great that Mayor Kühn has taken on the matter again," says Daniel Strillinger, who was elected as the new chairman at the end of 2019 and was commissioned by the members to continue to take care of the tourist tax.

Strillinger, who runs the Steinbrecherhof in Alt-Wiessee with his family, hopes that the “valley unit will soon be restored”.

CSU announces a request to lower the contribution for the February meeting

This is exactly what the CSU parliamentary group of the Wiesseer municipal council is striving for.

Spokesman Florian Sareiter announced that a corresponding application would be submitted to the February meeting.

“The most important thing is to close ranks,” Sareiter clarifies with a view to the other valley communities.

As is well known, the CSU squad had already voted against the increase in the resort fee in the 2019 decision and since then fought stubbornly - but initially in vain - to give in.

Only after the local elections was the subject put back to the test under the new mayor.

Whether Bad Wiessee actually does the role backwards and lowers the resort fee to three euros is now up to the decision of the municipal council.

Especially in times when Bad Wiessee and the neighboring municipalities are getting closer again, this would be an important step in Sareiter's eyes: "We have to see the big picture."

For Strillinger, lowering the health resort fee to three euros would also be a good thing because it could make their work for the already troubled landlords and hosts easier in Corona times.

The 3.30 euro resort fee is difficult to convey to the guest.

“When Bad Wiessee has more to offer again in a few years and the indoor pool is up, no one will mind if we increase the fee across the valley,” says Strillinger.
