A new discussion has broken out behind the scenes about the design of the main street in Oberalting-Seefeld. The problems are old: traffic, parking spaces, speed, design. Despite years of deliberation, little has changed in all of this. There is good news anyway.

A new discussion has broken out behind the scenes about the design of the main street in Oberalting-Seefeld.

The problems are old: traffic, parking spaces, speed, design.

Despite years of deliberation, little has changed in all of this.

There is good news anyway.

Seefeld

- Bettina Freistedt-Bayr from Seefeld addressed the subject of the center of Seefeld and Hechendorf in a letter to Mayor Klaus Kögel, Oliver Prells from the planning association for the external economic area of Munich, the local council group of the Greens / BI and the local branch of the Federal Nature Conservation Union and asked for a say.

Meanwhile, the flower shop "Blumen am See" on the main street in Oberalting has closed to the regret of many Seefeld.

But the commercial line has already been re-assigned: Emil Pop, operator of the “croissanterie” next door, Hauptstrasse 31, wants to expand.

The heart of Seefeld deserves “that it receives more attention and design,” writes Freystedt-Bayr.

She has lived in the community for more than 30 years and was also involved in the Seefeld community workshop in autumn 2019.

Seefeld's center has unfortunately "drifted to nothing and deteriorated".

There is nothing there except for a supermarket, in which nobody would like to go shopping, and which is now being expanded considerably.

The attempt to visually embellish the main street with plant troughs is just a pitiful drop in the ocean.

Freystedt-Bayr would like to have a site visit where the suggestions from the site concept are discussed.

She asks Mayor Kögel for permission to install a "permanent corona outdoor gallery" in front of the old town hall in Seefeld.

The weekly market square, which is used by the Fieranten on Thursday mornings, but otherwise as a parking lot, should at least be made more attractive with a seat and an art object.

The old town hall is in a wretched condition, "it is urgently time to think about the renovation".

The deceleration of the main road, on which 50 km / h applies continuously, should be tackled urgently.

"She is right about the condition of the town center," said Mayor Klaus Kögel in an interview with Starnberg Merkur.

The community also has an eye on the main streets of the Seefeld and Hechendorf districts.

“But I defend myself against individual measures.

It would be better if they were integrated into an overall concept. ”This also depends on the decision as to whether and where the municipality is building a new town hall.

You can already talk about Tempo 30.

“But I would like to do this legally and clarify it with the district office.” Again and again, communities failed because they were expelled from Tempo 30 and this would be overturned by the authorities.

Plant troughs and similar suggestions are certainly good and feasible, "but they must not restrict us in the development of the hospital property in Oberalting".

So everything is related to everything.

But it is also a fact that the municipality has management responsibility.

Talking to residents is all the more important, because a lot can only be clarified under private law.

“A lot doesn't always help a lot, but there is also a lot of resistance.” Now, however, the large supermarket construction site has to be tackled first.

Kögel is delighted that Emil Pop, owner of the croissanterie, would like to expand.

"I support that."

Emil Pop (48) will start the renovation on Monday.

“We have a lot to do in the next few weeks,” he told Starnberg Merkur on Friday.

He would like to celebrate its reopening on March 1st.

A breakthrough to the adjoining building is planned, with space for a café garden on the southern side.

In 2015 Pop, who learned the bakery trade in Munich and now lives in Hechendorf, opened the “Croissanterie”.

Since then, long queues have formed regularly in front of the small shop.

The Seefelder will not have to do without Pop's art of baking during the renovation break.

Because Pop won't close: “We'll put up a car,” he announced on Friday.

This is open every day except Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

However, Seefeld's local councils will soon be taking care of the main street.

"We will take up this promptly," said Kögel.
