The Speaker of the People's Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, during his meeting today with the representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Syria, Dr. Iyad Nasr, stressed the need to strengthen and develop cooperation between Syria and the Fund in light of the consequences of the Syrian people suffering from the consequences of the unilateral economic measures imposed on the country and the terrorist war that caused great damage and destruction to all Sectors.
Sabbagh appreciated the role the fund plays in many countries, including Syria.
For his part, Nasr explained that cooperation with the Syrian side is in place, and work will be done to develop and consolidate it and remove obstacles to present what is in the interest of Syrians, especially women, indicating that work will be done to build real foundations that go beyond assistance by developing existing local capabilities.
On the 27th of last January, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, received the credentials of Dr. Nasr, a resident representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Syria.
