China today called on the United States to correct the mistakes it made over a certain period of time against Beijing and adopt a constructive policy based on cooperation and mutual respect.
During a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau and Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Central Committee, said, according to what Xinhua reported, that "Sino-American relations have reached a decisive moment," pointing out that his country adopts a stable and consistent policy towards United State.
Yang stressed that Washington should correct its mistakes and work with Beijing to support the approach of mutual respect and win-win cooperation, as well as focus on managing differences, in order to push forward the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wen said yesterday, in a comment on US President Joe Biden's speech, in which he described China as the "most dangerous competitor" for his country, that "China is a country that builds world peace, contributes to global development and defends the international system," expressing his country's hope that "The American side follows the common desire of the two peoples as well as the trend of the times and joins with other countries and the international community to support world peace and development."
