Authorities in India fear for the lives of one hundred to 150 people after a glacier in the Himalayas collapsed today (Sunday) and caused floods in the state of Uttarakhand.
As a result, the level of alert has risen in many parts of the country in northern India.
The collapse led to a rapid rise in river water fed by glaciers, and floods broke a dam in the area and swept away everything that stood in their way.
Police in the Chamoli district, where the dam is located, have called on residents to evacuate as soon as possible.
