2021-02-07T10:40:18.495Z

Passes which expired in December 2020 can be exchanged until March 31, 2021. Our practical guide to using them during a stay in France.

They have been used to pay for a night in a hotel, a meal in a restaurant or an entry to the museum for almost 40 years.

Holiday vouchers, issued by the National Agency for Holiday Vouchers (ANCV), created in 1982, allow the French to pay for part of their stays.

Each year, they benefit 4.5 million employees and civil servants (10 million people if we include families), but also nearly 200,000 tourism professionals who accept them as a means of payment.

How to get holiday vouchers?

All companies, regardless of their size, can offer holiday vouchers to their employees, but they are not required to do so.

They are fully or partially paid for by the employer or thanks to a subsidy from the works council.

Nominative, they are valid for two years in addition to the year of issue.

Thus, the 2020 vintage titles are valid until December 31, 2022. They are available in denominations of 10, 20, 25 and 50 €.

Some companies offer dematerialized tickets, the Chèque Vacances Connect, in the form of a mobile application.

Unlike paper tickets, dematerialized tickets can only be used on partner websites (Gîtes de France, Lastminute, etc.) referenced on this page, for reservations of at least € 20.

Some establishments do not accept holiday vouchers.

Check the presence of the ANCV sticker at the entrance of the establishment.

It is possible to pay for train and plane tickets with holiday vouchers from an SNCF agency or an airline.

Holiday vouchers can also be used for stays in a European Union country only if they are used beforehand with a professional in France.

The titles are in fact not valid abroad.

Some establishments do not accept holiday vouchers.

Check the presence of the ANCV logo at the entrance to the establishment or on the professionals' website.

What if they expire?

At the end of their validity, the tickets can be exchanged for new holiday vouchers valid for two years if their face value represents € 30 or more.

For 2018 titles, expired since December 31, 2020, all you have to do is make the request on the leguide.ancv.com site before March 31, 2021, then send the expired titles by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt.
