The two ski mountaineers lost under an avalanche on the border between the towns of Cesana and Sauze di Cesana died.
The bodies of Carlalberto Cimenti, who would have turned 46 on Sunday, and of Patrick Negro, were identified and recovered by the Alpine Rescue.
They were under more than 2 meters of snow, at the base of an avalanche that went downhill for about 200 meters along a canal.
Both from Pragelato, they were heading towards the Argentera Valley, in Sestriere, when they were overwhelmed between Cima del Bosco and Col Chalvet. The relatives of 'Cala' alerted the rescue, worried because he had not returned from the trip with his friend. Carlalberto Cimenti, known as 'Cala', 45, was a well-known mountaineer and extreme skier, known for his mountaineering feats not only in Italy. In July 2019 he escaped death in Pakistan, on Gasherbrun VII.
