Brazil's Health Ministry said last Friday that the country is interested in buying 10 million imported doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.

The pharmaceutical agency Anvisa said it received a request to carry out phase 3 trials of Indian Covaxin.

Sputnik V is not yet approved for emergency use in Brazil, but the Ministry of Health decided to go ahead with negotiations to purchase the vaccine after Anvisa recently removed the requirement that phase 3 trials be carried out in Brazil before to approve a vaccine for emergency use, according to Agência Brasil.
