Calm has returned to Tripoli, the second largest city in Lebanon, after several days of demonstrations and extremely violent clashes with the police.
More than 250 injured were recorded in the space of a few days.
A young protester died of a gunshot wound.

"
It was very hard: we treated war wounds
," says Rabieh Turkié, administrative director of the Nini hospital, located a stone's throw from al-Nour square, where the gatherings took place.
This social explosion is not, however, a surprise.
Its violence either.
For decades, the northern region, of which Tripoli is the capital, has been plagued by the lack of public investment.

," recalls a Tripolitan activist, who works on behalf of an international NGO.
