The MTR East Rail Line has just switched to a new signal system last Saturday (6th) and has been replaced with new 9-car trains.
Today (8th) is the third day of operation of the new signal system, which is also the first working day. However, the system has problems again. At about 12:00 noon, the MTR stated that a 9-car train is not operating smoothly and the train needs The slow speed from Kowloon Tong to Sha Tin Station has hindered the train service. The journey time from Hung Hom to Sheung Shui is expected to take an additional 10 to 15 minutes. The Car Service Control Center will need to make a movement to keep the train running smoothly.
According to the MTR, at about 12:15, the service of the East Rail Line returned to normal after the 9-car train that had problems departed from the main lane at Sha Tin Station.
According to the MTR's preliminary understanding, it is suspected that there is a malfunction on the train. The Train Control Center will arrange for the train to return to the depot for detailed inspection to understand the reasons for the unsmooth operation.
