Egypt will today (Monday) hold an emergency meeting in the Arab League, in the presence of foreign ministers, who will discuss the defense of Palestinian rights and the need for regional unity.
The meeting will continue to revive the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the Biden administration's policy regarding the Palestinian Authority.
The Arab League hopes that Biden's entry into office, replacing former President Donald Trump with whom the Palestinians have struggled, will help bring Jerusalem and Ramallah back to the negotiating table.
The meeting will be held three days after the Hague tribunal's decision that it may, under the Treaty of Rome, see the Palestinian Authority as a member state of the tribunal.
Those who initiated the meeting together are Egypt and Jordan. "The meeting will focus on the foundations of the Palestinian issue and Arab unity," said Assistant Secretary of the Arab League Hossam Zaki. And its neighbors in the Arabian Peninsula.
