The police said that after active investigations, officials of the Ministry of Transportation arrested a 30-year-old foreign man last night.

It is understood that the arrested man is of New Zealand nationality.

The police responded to "Hong Kong 01" stating that they noticed photos circulating on online social platforms, showing a man suspected of driving an electric scooter along the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel towards Kowloon.

Staff from the Investigation and Support Team of the Transport Department of the East Kowloon Region took the initiative to investigate the incident. At about 10:30 pm yesterday (February 8), a 30-year-old foreign man was arrested in Kwun Tong District on suspicion of "driving without a valid driving license ”, “Driving unregistered and unlicensed vehicles” and “Driving without third party risk insurance”.

The arrested man is now being detained for investigation.

The case was handed over to the Investigation and Support Team of the Transport Department of the East Kowloon Region for follow-up.

"Hong Kong 01" also inquired about the incident with the Tseung Kwan O tunnel operator yesterday and received a reply stating that the tunnel staff found an electric scooter entering the tunnel towards Kwun Tong at 2 pm yesterday, and then the part was placed at the exit of the tunnel a few minutes later. Electric scooters stopped.

After recording the information of the young man of New Zealand nationality, the staff arranged a special car to return the man and his electric scooter to Tseung Kwan O.

A spokesman for the tunnel company's operator said at that time that the man had not yet arrived at the toll booth and he was considering calling the police and reserved the right to pursue it.
