Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called on the administration of US President Joe Biden to abandon the "failed" policies of former President Donald Trump, stressing that continuing them will only lead to more failure.

"The new US administration has two options regarding the United States' return to the nuclear deal, which are to abandon the failed Trump administration policies or continue his policies that will only lead to more failure," Zarif wrote in a tweet.

Zarif added, "The United States left the nuclear agreement and violated it, and from here it must return and fulfill its obligations."

Yesterday, Zarif stressed the need for the United States to provide guarantees that what the previous US administration did and through which it violated the nuclear agreement signed with Iran, because it was not negotiable and was fully negotiated in the past.

In another context, Zarif emphasized that a political solution is the only way out of the crisis in Yemen, reviewing his country's position on ending the humanitarian crisis, which is based on the need to reduce the pain of the Yemeni people.

"Iran is fully prepared to support the active role of the United Nations in resolving the crisis in Yemen on the basis of paying attention to its extremely difficult conditions resulting from the aggression and the economic blockade imposed on it," Zarif said during his meeting in Tehran today with the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths.

For his part, Griffiths praised the important role that Iran plays towards establishing peace and security in Yemen, reviewing the United Nations position on resolving the crisis in this country through a ceasefire, providing economic aid and resuming political negotiations in it.
