Portugal-style anti-Semitism: A former senior military official caused an uproar in an antisemitic tweet on Twitter • The Jewish community in Lisbon reacted sharply: "The statement should have consequences"

Rodrigo Sousa Castro, one of the country's most famous military men and one of the leaders of the non-violent "nail protest" in April 1974, caused a great stir last weekend when he tweeted that Jews have their own access to corona vaccines: Of historic revenge. And I will not say more before the Zionist Bulldogs jump, "a former Revolutionary Council spokesman said in a Twitter post last Friday, which has since been deleted.

Raised hand in "Big Brother" Portugal

Sharp reactions soon arrived Jewish community of Lisbon had already gone against the statement that "should not pass without consequences" and the Israeli community in Puerto noted that the statement casts doubt dignity and security of Jews in general and Jewish communities in particular. "

Israeli Ambassador to Portugal, Rafael Gimzo attacked Castro harshly On Twitter - and this response received widespread repercussions in the country - that "as a proud Zionist bulldog, I can guarantee that if Israel develops a drug for Covid 19, Sousa will get access to it if necessary."

"When it comes to medicine, we do not deny primitive antisemites or ignorant racists, even if your present is not as glorious as its past," he pointed out.

Advocate Itai Moore, chairman of the Zionist Movement Beyond the Arc of Portugal, added: "I strongly condemn the antisemitic remarks of veteran General Rodrigo Sousa Castro. We will not accept such hateful statements anywhere in the world and especially not in Portugal. It is a shame that a hero of a tolerant culture like Portugal is full of hatred, anti-Semitism and ignorance. "

As you may recall, this week the reality show "Big Brother" in the country provided drama with its own antisemitic scent when tenant Holder - who saluted the cameras while smiling for a show - was fired immediately after his shocking act.

"There are issues that should never be laughed at so as not to take the risk of being distorted or underestimated," Big Brother addressed him, continuing: "The movement you have made symbolizes millions of dead ... Education is our most powerful weapon so that this terrible past will never happen again. "You are no longer welcome in my house! You are expelled from the house as the big brother."

Finally he finished by quoting Anne Frank.

"What has already happened cannot be changed, but we can prevent things from happening again."

It should be noted that there are currently less than a thousand Jews in Portugal, most of them located in Lisbon, Porto and even Belmonte.
