Those close to Rabbi Kanievsky estimate that if the opening of the ultra-Orthodox educational institutions is not approved by the government, the great ultra-Orthodox generation itself will order their opening.

"In recent days, Rabbi Kanievsky has expressed pain at the fact that the education of all Israeli children from all cities and sectors is at the bottom of the authorities' concern, and that every other issue is given priority over education, which is the soul of the nation," the statement said.

Last Friday, it was reported in "Israel Hayom" that in a closed discussion with the mayors of the ultra-Orthodox mayors, among other things, they opened educational institutions, with an emphasis on the ultra-Orthodox world.

"Once part of education is opened, it is estimated that most of the ultra-Orthodox sector will be opened," those present said.

The Ministry of Health already believed at the time that with the opening of the institutions to the general public, all the ultra-Orthodox institutions would also be opened, regardless of the color of the city or its level of morbidity.

These words were considerably strengthened when the family members of Rabbi Kanievsky, the greatest of the ultra-Orthodox generation, today took an extraordinary and public step to the government on his behalf, calling for an immediate solution to the issue of opening Talmud Torah, because they have been closed for weeks.

"Millions of Israeli children have been in their homes for about a year in spiritual and mental danger, and an immediate solution must be found in order to return them to the school bench as soon as possible while emphasizing the observance of regulations and health needs," the statement said.

According to the rabbi's associates, he was told by the government that the education would only be closed for a few days, but since then more than a month has passed and no real solution is in sight.

As you may recall, at the beginning of the third closure, Rabbi Kanievsky delayed the decision to close the Talmud Torah, but after pressure from the prime minister and officials within the ultra-Orthodox sector, he finally announced the closure of the institutions.

However, over the weeks the closure allowed some Torah scholars to reopen their gates, which led to criticism from the general public.
