Downward trend in covid-19 infections 2:33
(CNN Spanish) ––
The Catalan Department of Health began the steps to convert the Camp Nou stadium, owned by Barcelona FC, into a mass vaccination center against covid-19.
This was confirmed on Tuesday morning by the secretary of Public Health of the community, Josep María Argimon, in an interview with Catalunya Radio.
During his participation, the official said that some preliminary contacts had already been made with the club.
However, he added that they will wait for the end of the electoral process to be held by the institution on March 7, to solidify the proposal on the Camp Nou.
When is vaccination resumed in some cities of Spain?
"We are interested in having emblematic spaces that give a touch of attention to the citizens by the time we have to start their general vaccination," said Argimon.
The Department of Health is willing to take this proposal to other large venues in the region.
This with the aim of expanding vaccination capacity.
Argimon claimed that he has even thought of the Holy Family.
"But, that is already more a will, there is no management underway," he said.
