The community of Icking wants to hit hard on the dog tax: it should climb from 25 to 80 euros annually per four-legged friend.

Some dogs get particularly expensive.

Icking - The members of the planning and finance committee were looking for ways to save in the corona-weakened budget at their meeting on Thursday.

They found little in the area of spending.

They prefer to generate more income.

And then Icking wants to hit hard on the dog tax.

The so far - admittedly very moderate compared to other municipalities - 25 euros per year per Zamperl should climb to 80 euros.

Treasurer Stefan Fischer had suggested 70 euros.

Dr.

Georg Linsinger (Independent Citizen List Icking / UBI) increased to 80.

Icking: Dog tax should cover corona losses - drastic increase

"Given the large number of dogs we have and the corresponding number of rubbish bins full of dog waste bags that we empty, that's appropriate," said Linsinger.

Almost seven euros a month is not the world.

For this, the second and every additional dog per household will also cost “only” 80 euros in the future.

So far, the municipality, like most others, charged twice as much for the second dog as for the first, namely 50 euros.

The third dog costs 100 euros.

For so-called attack dogs (including Rottweilers, Mastiffs, Bull Terriers) there was no special rate as elsewhere.

Anyone who keeps a four-legged friend of these breeds should in future shell out EUR 1000 instead of EUR 25 per year.

Laura von Beckerath-Leismüller (Greens) thinks that's right: "This is a signal that we don't want fighting dogs with us."

Dog tax in Icking should increase drastically: Before that, a moderate amount

According to Kämmerer Fischer, there are currently 300 dogs in the Isartal community.

Last year, taxes were collected from the owners of 8500 euros.

With the increase it could be 24,000 euros.

The municipal council has to decide in the last instance.

The neighboring municipalities of Schäftlarn and Berg recently also raised their rates to 80 euros per fur nose.

In Münsing, Egling and Geretsried 40 euros are due, in Wolfratshausen 50.

While the committee members showed no bite resistance to expect a 320 percent increase in fees from dog owners, they rejected a slight increase in the rate of assessment for property taxes A and B from 280 to 310.

According to Kämmerer Fischer, it would bring in additional income of 63,000 euros - and mean, on average, four euros more per month for the property owner.

Icking ranks at the bottom of the district average (353 percent) together with Münsing municipality in terms of property tax, said Fischer.

In Bad Tölz the rate is 420, in Benediktbeuern it is 320.

Dog tax in Icking is increasing: concern for people in financial distress

However, Vigdis Nipperdey (Ickinger Initiative) sees a "psychological problem".

Many citizens are in a difficult financial situation due to the Corona crisis.

In the near future, the water price should be increased - and sensitively.

“You shouldn't turn the property control screw now,” said Nipperdey.

The committee disagreed with some of Fischer's austerity proposals.

For example, the digital equipment of the primary school, including training on the new devices, should not be skimpy for the teachers.

Dr.

Philipp Geiger (Greens), who suspects that there are still several months of pandemic to survive, even suggested installing systems for hybrid teaching in the classrooms.

With these, the students in homeschooling could follow the classroom teaching in the school.

The municipality bought such a system for the town hall for 1,800 euros so that councilors can attend meetings from home.

However, it doesn't work properly.

In the Dorfen clubhouse, the finance committee wants to renovate the toilets and the floor in the hall this year.

The time without events due to the corona pandemic is favorable for this, according to the councils.

They also want to generously respond to a grant application from the Isartal-Icking winter sports club (WSVI).

The association pays a farmer 50 euros per hour to pull a cross-country trail tracker with her tractor.

With the device she bought herself, a better skating track can be created than with that of the WSVI.

Beckerath-Leismüller advocated a grant.

During the short snow phase in the winter lockdown, she met a lot of people who were happy about the beautiful trails in Icking.
