The majority is acquired but the opposition made itself heard.
Parliament voted on Tuesday to extend the state of health emergency until June 1, by 278 votes to 193.
The state of health emergency was established on March 20 to deal with the health crisis.
It is through this exceptional regime that the government is deploying its restrictive measures to try to stem the spread of the virus.
Namely the confinement measures or the curfew at 6 p.m.
While the threat of variants weighs heavily in France, the government is not refraining from implementing a third confinement if the health situation were to deteriorate.
It is to give itself free rein that the executive therefore wanted this extension, widely contested by the elected members of the opposition who say they fear an accustoming of power to this exceptional regime.
