Two arrests, five complaints, over 600 vials of anabolic and doping drugs imported illegally and 13 thousand euros seized.
This is the balance of the massive operation carried out by the Cagliari Nas carabinieri who dismantled a criminal group specializing in the trafficking and marketing of performance-enhancing substances and drugs throughout Sardinia.
The alleged crimes against the seven suspects are "clandestine trafficking of drugs with anabolic and narcotic action in order to alter the competitive performance of athletes", "detention for the purpose of drug trafficking" and "receiving stolen goods".
Only some of the suspects are also accused of having abusively exercised the medical profession by prescribing food programs and medical therapies to numerous athletes. According to what was ascertained by Nas specialists, the suspects illegally imported the drugs from abroad, then marketed them throughout the region. Vials and doping pills then ended up in the hands of other salesmen and athletes who took the drugs to participate in competitive competitions. The investigations, in fact, started in 2020 following a seizure of anabolic drugs against a bodybuilder. The Nas military carried out numerous searches seizing 252 ampoules of nandrolone, a substance with an anabolic and narcotic action, 378 ampoules of anabolic substances of various medicinal specialties, 6,300 tablets, various devices for inoculation, 10 grams of cocaine and 110 of marijuana and over 13 thousand euros in cash. The value of the seized substances, particularly harmful to health - both from a medical point of view and for the ability to alter the regular biological processes of the organism, and from a psychological point of view - is about 85 thousand euros.
