Fireworks were set off at Ciyun Mountain in the middle of the night to wake up the whole village

At 2 o'clock in the morning, Tsz Wan Shan, Wong Tai Sin, suspected that someone was setting off fireworks. Residents in many villages on the mountain were awakened by the loud noise and complained about their complaints online.

Some residents also photographed the fireworks display process and put at least two clips on the Facebook group of the residents of Tsz Wan Shan. Each clip lasts about 8 to 13 seconds.

The police said that at 2:23 am, a number of people reported that they were suspected of setting off fireworks and firecrackers at the Tsz Wanshan Service Reservoir Playground in Yuhua Street.

Officers arrived at the scene and seized 4 boxes of suspected fireworks at the above site. Among them, 3 boxes of suspected fireworks weighing about 1 kilogram had been set off, while one box of suspected fireworks weighing about 230 grams was not set off.

The case was classified as "illegal discharging of fireworks and firecrackers" and was handed over to Wong Tai Sin Police District officers for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.

The police remind members of the public that under the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, anyone who illegally possesses or set off fireworks and firecrackers can be fined up to $25,000 and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment upon conviction.
