The first 100,000 doses of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, out of a total of ten million ordered, will arrive in Venezuela next week, President Nicolas Maduro announced on Tuesday.

"We will begin to vaccinate medical personnel, all health personnel in the country, then the most vulnerable people, then teachers,"
the Head of State said in a televised address.
This first contingent represents 1% of the total order placed during the visit of a Russian delegation in November.
With a population of thirty million, Venezuela has 130,596 confirmed cases and 1,240 deaths, according to official statistics, which international NGOs such as Human Rights Watch find lacking credibility.
