Iran began its operation on the corona virus today (Tuesday), focusing initially on the intensive care units in the country's hospitals.
Iran is the country hardest hit by Corona in the Middle East and it is waiting for more vaccines before it starts giving them to the general population.
State television has shown Persa Nemchi, the son of Health Minister Said Namchi, receiving the first shot, to boost public confidence in the Russian "Sputnik 5" vaccine.
Iran has so far received 10,000 of the two million vaccine doses it has ordered from Russia and it plans to vaccinate some 1.3 million people by March 20, according to an official television report.
Iran also expects to receive more than four million doses of Astraznica vaccines.

However, officials declined to comment on Astraznica's British links.
