The mayor of Montauban Brigitte Barèges (LR) was sentenced Tuesday, February 9 to 5 years of ineligibility with immediate effect by the criminal court of Toulouse in a case of embezzlement of public funds and will have to quickly leave her post.

She was also sentenced to a 12-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 15,000 euros.
The prosecution had required five years of ineligibility with immediate application and 18 to 24 months suspended sentence against Barèges.
