More than 17 years after the arrests for the Parmalat crash Fausto Tonna, former financial director of the group and at the time the right arm of Calisto Tanzi, is back in prison.

It is the consequence of the order issued by the Public Prosecutor of Bologna after the Supreme Court which declared inadmissible the appeal on the sentence of the Bologna Court of Appeal of 19 December 2020, when the overall sentence for the former manager was defined in eight years, 11 months and 16 days.

It was the calculation of the continuation between three different processes, all linked to the Collecchio group: the crash, Parmatour and the Milanese trial for rigging.

Arrested in December 2003, during the investigation he collaborated with the investigators, providing useful information to understand the financial tricks that had allowed the group to conceal its state of insolvency.

His final sentence in the main trial was reached only in 2019 for various 'rebounds' between the Appeal and the Supreme Court, for which the initial 14-year sentence in the first instance was reduced and in the end more than halved.

The continuation had also taken into account two other rulings, of plea bargaining: in the 'Parmatour' vein, two years and two months, and in the Milanese trial at two years and six months.

Tonna has been in jail since January 15th.
