(CNN) ––

After her mother-in-law struggled to sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine, a Massachusetts woman created a website to make things easier for her.

And so he made it easier for everyone.

Olivia Adams designed a website that displays vaccination appointments throughout the state.

Government sites and sites operated by private companies are included.

Adams called it macovidvaccines.com.

The 28-year-old software developer from Arlington, Massachusetts, said she spent three weeks and about 40 hours building the website.

In conversation with CNN's Alisyn Camerota, she explained that she did it during her maternity leave while taking care of her 2-month-old son.

“I thought about taking a look and was surprised how decentralized everything was.

And how there are thousands of different web pages, "said Adams.

“I thought 'how can I put my software skills to use to improve this in my spare time?'” He added.

Olivia Adams holds her newborn son.

Free time is usually when your newborn sleeps, Adams said.

She added that her 2-year-old is in daycare, so she's lucky she doesn't take care of them both during the day.

The inspiration for the website came after listening to her mother-in-law, who had a hard time signing up for a covid-19 vaccine appointment.

Her mother-in-law is a dental hygienist who qualified for the first phase of vaccinations, Adams explained.

"She had a little problem knowing where to go and how to sign up," Adams said.

'He was able to do it, but it took a little time.

And then he had the same problem when he was able to enroll his father, who was eligible at the beginning of our phase two, ”he added.

His family is not the only one who has had difficulties registering for vaccination against covid. 19.

People across the country, from senior citizens to others in the early stages of vaccination, had to wait hours on the phone and logging in online to see that no spots were available.

Adams looked at the Massachusetts online vaccines page and realized that he could make it better for everyone.

As she explained, she is used to creating complicated software related to healthcare needs at work.

Precisely, Adams is a leading member of the technical staff at Athenahealth, a healthcare technology company.

But I have never created a website like this.

"This was the first time that I made a complicated website myself," she said.

“The hardest part of this is that for every website that has free / busy information I have to tell my computer how to read that web page like a human.

That's where all the working hours were spent, ”he added.

Vaccination appointments are available at several locations.

Which range from those run by the state to those operated in grocery stores and pharmacies.

Analyzing all that information for each provider is where it took a little time, he said.

Adams has code for its website that runs every five minutes at about 20 different Covid-19 vaccine sites, he wrote in an email.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker was asked about the Adams vaccine website at a news conference Friday.

"Send us her name, we'll talk to her," Baker said Friday.

Adams said he contacted the state to discuss his website before the press conference.

However, he added that he did not receive a response after emailing them.

On Monday, he tweeted that he received an email from the state's Coronavirus Command Center and will attempt to meet with them this week.

CNN reached out to the state of Massachusetts for comment, but has had no response.

Olivia Adams created the website in large part when her newborn son was asleep.

Adams said he never expected his website to be as popular as this one.

He sent the link to friends and family and from there it spread.

For people wondering if Adams could make her magic code work for other states that need help with immunization records, she responded that she knows there is a great need.

«Last Friday I would have said absolutely not.

There is no way I will have time to do that.

But now the support has been overwhelming and clearly there is such a need, "he said.

“I already have people from other states emailing me and wondering if this can be done where they are.

I'd love to explore that and we'll see how it works, ”he added.

Adams encouraged other people who may have an idea to help just give it a try, he wrote via email.

"I encourage anyone who thinks they have a half idea to try their best and they will be surprised how well it will turn out," he wrote.

"I built it for everyone, but I didn't think everyone would use it," he concluded.
