Schlagenhofen

- The brothers Andreas and Gerald Zitko are not very lucky when they lease their Wörthsee-Alm.

The brothers manage the property for their 90-year-old mother Else.

"Another year longer, then we could have demolished the house," says Gerald Zitko regretfully.

The inn and its surroundings are "run down".

For two and a half years, the tenants were always open on summer weekends and on special occasions with an alternative program and soul food.

Not always to the delight of the neighbors or the owner.

But the Wörthsee Alm was popular, "we had the book full of events such as weddings," says Mato.

Alternatively, he had imagined the past year to be colorful, but Corona also thwarted him and his partner.

"We should have invested." That was no longer possible with the restrictions.

Mato calls it the “magical two years” that are now over.

Because he also had an alternative, colorful kiosk in Steinebach, which he had to close after two years.

His fish shop on the Herrsching promenade is still running successfully and unbroken.

In Schlagenhofen, the alternative colorful has meanwhile been replaced by craftsmen.

The Zitkos, who had already applied for a change of use in the Wörthsee-Alm for residential purposes in 2018, have decided to keep the catering business.

The new lease started this month, said Gerald Zitko.

But the renovation work is not yet complete.

Zitko hopes that nothing stands in the way of a new opening in May.

If the virus and its consequences allow it.
