In the context of the aforementioned, the renewal of the START 3 treaty concluded between Russia and the United States on measures to further reduce and limit strategic offensive weapons, which ended on February 5, is considered a goal for Russia, whose foreign policy is considered in the range of US colonial aspirations in the world, especially after exposure The treaty threatened to be canceled during the era of former US President Donald Trump, as Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov confirmed that Moscow had agreed with Washington to extend the treaty in accordance with its terms, according to Russia Today.

Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the extension step, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered it a success for Russia's policy and the culmination of its approach in dealing with these issues, saying in a statement reported by Sputnik, "The extension guarantees the necessary level of predictability and transparency in this area, while strictly adhering to the balance of interests."

The European Union, which follows the orbit of Washington and attaches special importance to the treaty due to its main necessity for international and European security, according to his words, welcomed the treaty, said by its Commissioner for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell, saying, “The European Union welcomes the agreement reached by Russia and the United States to extend the START 3 treaty for an additional five years.” .

While US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken attributed the approval of the United States to the extension, he guarantees that it has verifiable limits on Russian ICBMs, submarine-launched ballistic missiles and heavy bombers until February 5, 2026, according to the Financial Times newspaper.

In turn, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) did not hide its support for the agreement, considering that it contributes to strengthening global stability and peace, as Japan commented on that in a statement to its foreign affairs by saying that our country welcomes this treaty that organizes and controls the reduction of nuclear warheads and launch vehicles and reflects important progress towards the nuclear disarmament of the two countries. .

China was not late in welcoming the agreement, according to the Chinese agency Xinhua, as its foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin expressed his country's welcome to extend the New START treaty, as it helps in strengthening global strategic stability, international peace and security, and meets the aspirations of the international community.

The START III treaty, which provides for each party to reduce its strategic offensive weapons, is an extension of the Treaty on Limiting Strategic Offensive Weapons (START I) signed between the United States and the Soviet Union in 1991 in Moscow, which included the largest bilateral reduction of nuclear weapons in history, after ten years. From intermittent talks between Washington and Moscow in the final years of the Cold War between 1947 and 1991.
