A rapprochement between Ramallah and the Gaza Strip?

Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen last night (Tuesday) spoke with Hamas Politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh. The latter welcomed the results of the Palestinian dialogue in Cairo on the election. , On which the Palestinian institutions are based.  

Yahya Sinwar's deputy and a member of the Hamas delegation in Cairo, Khalil al-Haya, approved the agreement reached on the mechanisms of elections to the Legislative Council and Chairman of the Palestinian Authority, including neutral Tribunal for the elections, which will include various Palestinian representatives. 



Al-Haya said in a statement to the media That another convention was agreed upon during the month of March to further discuss the mechanisms and composition of a new National Council.





According to the draft agreement between the Palestinian factions distributed in the media, it was also agreed to release all the detainees arrested in light of the internal conflicts and their expression of opinion.

As you may recall, in recent years, the Palestinian Authority has been detaining Hamas operatives in its territories in Judea and Samaria.  

"The two-day comprehensive Palestinian dialogue in Cairo included an in-depth discussion of mechanisms for drawing a roadmap that will lead us to achieve unity, end the split, grant freedoms and choose the institutions of our people," the head of the Fatah delegation in Cairo, Jibril Rajoub, told Palestinian television. However, he said, this is only a preliminary step in a series of moves aimed at holding elections to the Legislative Council, which are expected to take place on May 22.
