Hohenkammer
- In the corona pandemic, citizens and companies are faced with special challenges - and during this time Hohenkammer is now setting an example: All taxes will be reduced by 15 percentage points for a period of three years.
With 11: 4 votes, the measure was decided in the municipal council.
That means a municipal tax exemption of around 60,000 euros annually.
"We want to say thank you"
“The citizens play a major role in ensuring that our community is doing so well,” says Mayor Mario Berti.
"We want to say thank you for this." He made it clear in the local council that the measure was a sign of appreciation.
The lowering of trade and property taxes benefits companies, farmers, property owners and tenants.
The mayor said that the measure actually affects everyone.
He also made it clear to the local council that “we can afford the step”.
Since the municipality does not have to take out loans, the municipal supervisory authority has no objections either.
The administration showed the financial effects with a specific invoice: In 2021, business tax (reduced income 50,800 euros) is expected to be 950,000 euros, property tax A (reduced income 2000) and 211,600 euros property tax B (reduced income 11,300).
For 2021, 58,000 euros are missing in the communal budget - and that is manageable.
Mayor: Don't just see the measure financially
The four votes against from the Council showed that not everyone in the group considered the measures to be sensible.
In the debate, one or the other made it clear that the community was missing some money, but that the citizens and companies did not really notice what was arriving.
Berti emphasized that the measure, which is limited to three years, should not only be seen financially, but also as a sign of appreciation in difficult times.
