The Embassy of the Republic of India in Damascus, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Technology, announced the relaunch of the Indian-Syrian Center of Excellence for Information Technology (New Generation) after raising its level, at a reception organized at the Dama Rose Hotel.

An embassy press release, of which SANA received a copy, stated that the Indian government is committed to equipping the center's offices and the necessary work stations in addition to the required tools and software. The Indian Advanced Computing Development Center (SIDAC) will also provide training certificates, equipment, textbooks and train the trainers.

The center, which was launched in Syria in 2010 with the graduation of youth cadres in information and communication technology, programming languages ​​and artificial intelligence, graduated about 700 trainees and completed 43 training courses, but as a result of the terrorist war that Syria was subjected to, the Indian experts left at the end of 2011, unable to continue its work because of the terrorist war on Syria, and today, after things were restored to normal, it was announced that the center would be reopened and upgraded.

In his speech, the Indian ambassador in Damascus Hafiz Al-Rahman emphasized that the center’s goal is to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria by developing the human resources required in the information technology sector, which will result in strengthening a long-term partnership between the two countries.

Ambassador Hafiz Al-Rahman presented the stages of establishing the center, which the initial agreement was signed to establish in 2009 and entered into force in 2010, but he was unable to continue its work due to the circumstances of the war on Syria and with the return to normal life in the country, the two sides agreed to raise the level of the center to become a center for the generation the new.

Ambassador Hafiz Al-Rahman emphasized that his country's government is working to build capacity for friendly and partner countries in areas including sending Indian experts and establishing vocational training centers and centers of excellence in the field of information technology, pointing out that the establishment of the center in Damascus comes within the framework of India's efforts in the development field.

In turn, the Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, indicated that the aim of reopening the center is to supply the information and communications sector with educated, educated cadres capable of using information, especially with the arrival of Syria to an advanced stage with regard to e-government, indicating that the Indian experts who are responsible for training cadres of trainers The center will arrive in Syria in April of this year.

The ceremony included a presentation summarizing the stages of establishing the center and its equipment.

The ceremony was attended by the head of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, Dr. Imad Sabouni, and a number of ministers' assistants from the ministries of Information, Communications, Technology, Higher Education and Scientific Research, members of the People's Assembly, and directors of departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
