690 cyclists pedaled hard in the summer of 2020.

Your record is impressive - and climate-friendly.

Freising

- Freising took part in the Stadtradeln campaign last year too, when the participants really pedaled.

Overall, the 690 active cyclists were able to cover exactly 144 611 kilometers between June 21 and July 11, 2020, which corresponds to the distance of three times circumnavigation of the world, summarizes Dominik Fuchs, the mobility manager of the city of Freising in the building and planning department: Saved 21 tons of CO2 and thus actively done something for climate protection in Freising. "

As has been a good tradition so far, the successful should be honored at a closing event of the Freising Cycling Summer together with the winners of school cycling and the “With the bike in the city” campaign.

The event including the award ceremony planned for November had to be canceled due to the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic and could not be rescheduled due to the current situation.

Nevertheless, the city would like to announce the winners of city cycling - in the hope of being able to hand over the prizes they have earned as soon as possible.

Teams achieve impressive results

In the “Teams with the most cyclists” category, the “Dynamo Freising” group took first place with 98 participants.

The team from the Camerloher-Gymnasium came second with 78 cyclists, closely followed by TSV Jahn Freising with 76 participants.

“Dynamo Freising” also managed the most kilometers cycled (18,783 km).

TSV Jahn Freising took second place (16 394 kilometers).

The “Team Franka” also achieved a terrific performance with 14,538 km and thus a deserved third place.

A further evaluation of the team categories honors those teams that have unwound the most kilometers by bike per person.

The ADFC team achieved a landslide victory here with 723 kilometers per capita (with four cyclists).

Second place went to the “Biergarten Vaddis” with 473 kilometers (three cyclists) and bronze went to the team from the Freisinger Stadtwerke with 415 kilometers (ten cyclists).

Best single rider pedaling over 2000 kilometers

In the individual categories, too, it was exciting to see who would take home victory right up to the end.

In the end, Norbert Keil from the “d'Alpenradler” team beat Silvia Frankiw (TSV Jahn Freising) with 1935 kilometers with 2004 kilometers.

Bronze goes to Quirin Huber from the Josef-Hofmiller-Gymnasium with 1500 kilometers, who was also able to clear away a lot while cycling to school.

The honor of school cycling was planned for shortly before Christmas, but also had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic and the change from classroom teaching to homeschooling.

However, the prizes will be handed over to the pupils at their schools as soon as this is possible again - of course with sufficient distance and in compliance with the hygiene rules.

The winners of city cycling and the raffle should also receive their prizes as soon as possible, as soon as the contact and exit restrictions allow it again.
