Raggi: 'A small revolution'. Oppositions: 'It's just propaganda' (ANSA)

Fly over the traffic of Rome.

The arduous undertaking is the basis of the first cable car that the Capitol led by Virginia Raggi intends to build in the northern area of the city: four kilometers and seven stations that lead from Casalotti to Battistini.

The idea, developed in the last election campaign, is slowly taking shape and now the junta has given the green light to the technical-economic feasibility project.

According to what filters, the hypothesis is to open the construction sites by the end of 2022.

Initially the plan was to start work by 2021, but the bureaucratic steps are not finished yet.

After the go ahead, the next step is a meeting between Municipality and MIT technicians in the coming days.

Subsequently, for the final design (financed by the state), the tender and the final design of the technological parts (to be carried out by the contractor), the experts still estimate 18 months.

The work has always aroused irony and controversy in the city and it does not stop doing so.

"In 2017 the mayor Raggi announced that the Casalotti-Battistini cable car would be ready for 2021. Today, after four years, she tells us that the feasibility project has been approved. Enough teasing", thunders from Fratelli d'Italia.

While the candidate for mayor Tobia Zevi dubbed "the announcement of a simple feasibility project" as mere "propaganda, after four and a half years of city government".

But the 5-star Campidoglio goes straight and continues to work on a second cable car: the one that should connect the Eur Magliana metro station to Villa Bonelli.

"Let's take another step forward to carry out an important work for the city - says the mayor Virginia Raggi -. It is a useful and modern transport system already tested in many other cities. It will be a small revolution for the mobility of the whole area. ".
