The Johanniter are completely rebuilding their vaccination center at Karlsfelder See.

With this measure you are reacting to the massive criticism of the organization of the plant.

Karlsfeld

- Not everything was bad at the "old" vaccination center in Karlsfeld, emphasizes Johanniter spokeswoman Kristina-Désirée Reinelt.

“We get so much positive feedback,” she reports.

Vaccinated people would bring biscuits to the team or donate money with the referral subject "Thank you for the great vaccination experience".

Unfortunately, in the past few weeks there have been negative reports about the vaccination center built on the eastern parking lot of Lake Karsfeld.

The way from the S-Bahn to the lake is already difficult for old people, especially in winter.

In addition, the area on site, i.e. in front of the containers, was icy or only sparsely cleared.

Reinelt admits that the problem of icy roads actually existed in January.

But “we apologized and worked on an improvement with mats”.

But she puts the long waiting times in the cold, which many complain about, into perspective: "Anyone who has an appointment at 9 o'clock and is there half an hour before then has to be patient."

The waiting in the cold will come to an end from February 17th.

As Johanniter announced yesterday, the previous container system will be replaced by a stable, 600 square meter tent.

In addition, there should be level access with a covered and heated waiting area and access via tarred areas.

In the future, elderly and mobility-impaired people will also be able to get off at a “drop-off area” at the entrance, a short stopping area for getting on and off quickly while the driver drives to the designated parking spaces on the paved area.

“It is incredibly important to us that people feel comfortable here,” says Joern Osenbrück, project manager of the vaccination centers in the Johanniter Regionalverband Oberbayern, explaining the measure.

Access must be easy for all age groups, especially in bad weather.

“Otherwise,” Osenbrück fears, “people will only have this experience in their heads and the professional vaccination will be lost.

That would be a shame.

Especially when I see the committed commitment of my colleagues here ”.

One district, two vaccination centers: depending on the zip code, citizens are either sent to Dachau (center 1) or Karlsfeld (2) for vaccination.

Johanniter spokeswoman Kristina-Désirée Reinelt is convinced that "this is now the best solution".

She asks for your understanding that it took a few weeks to find them.

“In December, decisions had to be made and solutions found within a few days.

Such a vaccination center doesn’t build itself. And that just before Christmas. "That the politicians, which had previously called for the construction of the vaccination center by December 15th, could not deliver a vaccine, that was just bad luck:" A lot has happened that we couldn't help, ”Reinelt emphasizes.

But: “We're doing our best.

And we could do a lot more, we want to help ”.

In this respect, it hurts the soul of the team on site when instead of a possible 250 corona vaccinations, it is only allowed to vaccinate 50 people a day.

Until the new vaccination center opens next Wednesday, the previous containers will remain in operation.

In view of the announced cold spell, Reinelt asks again urgently to “please come to the appointment first”.

Those wishing to be vaccinated can still register for a vaccination at www.impfzentren.bayern.de or by calling 116 117.
