Regional: "I will lead the battle in the Grand Est", officializes Laurent Jacobelli, new head of the RN list

2021-02-10T17:46:09.002Z

INTERVIEW - The spokesperson for Marine Le Pen's party is leaving his responsibilities in the Bouches-du-Rhône to start the ballot next June.

Spokesman for the National Rally, Laurent Jacobelli was invested head of the list in the Grand Est for the next regional elections.

LE FIGARO.

- Will you head the list of the National Rally in the Grand Est for

the next regional elections on June 13 and 20

?

Laurent JACOBELLI.

-

Yes, Marine Le Pen and the party's executive committee have done me the honor of appointing me head of the list.

I campaigned in the same region in 2015. Already at that time, I denounced a region too large to deal with the concrete concerns of the inhabitants.

They need proximity rather than a distant structure.

I want to go back to combat to correct this.

To finally give this region an elected president, who does not take pleasure in managing an administrative monster.

Jean Rottner (

LR outgoing president of the region

,

Editor's note)

, is satisfied with this great region.

He preferred to close the door to any reorganization during the recent arrival of the Prime Minister, Jean Castex.

Its statements are above ground compared to the expectations of its citizens.

You were a candidate in Essonne during the 2015 departmental elections, in Alsace in the following regional ones, to finally present yourself in the Bouches-du-Rhône in the last legislative elections in 2017 and then in the municipal elections in 2020. Why this electoral hubbub?

I assume it completely.

Each time, these movements have been motivated by good reasons.

I am a candidate where I am.

I have many ties to this Grand Est region.

My grandparents lived in Aube.

I also have family in Alsace.

This region is so vast that to a certain extent, the Alsatian Jean Rottner may seem like a parachute in the eyes of a Champardennais.

It is the sincerity of convictions that counts.

You are therefore resigning from your duties as head of the RN in the Bouches-du-Rhône.

Isn't this the demonstration of a lack of executives within your movement?

We cannot say that there is a lack of quality managers at the RN in the Bouches-du-Rhône ... We did a very good job there.

The federation has progressed and presented many candidates for municipal elections.

Everything is ready for the departmental.

Politics is about building things and going into battle where the need is greatest.

It is a long-term struggle everywhere: to advance our ideas and our values.

Today I will continue this commitment by leading the battle in the Grand Est.

During the last regional, in 2015, the head of the list of your movement, Florian Philippot, missed the presidency of the region despite a favorable triangular in the second round.

What would make your victory possible this time?

Over the past six years, people have seen at the national level that we were right in our findings.

They now know that sovereignty is a necessity.

No one can deny the problem of immigration any longer or assure that insecurity is just a “feeling”.

Everyone understood that localism was something fundamental, especially in the context of the crisis we are going through.

On the other hand, I was a candidate for “Debout la France” in 2015. Today I am the candidate for the “gathering”.

You will soon see people joining us from all over to form a big union list.

Beyond the single National Assembly.

The Covid-19 crisis threatens to constrain the ways of campaigning.

How do you understand it?

We will have to multiply ourselves.

We will reach out to people in any way we can, be it with leaflets or social media campaigns.

Of course, we will not be able to hold a meeting of a thousand people.

But that will not prevent us from going to the markets to meet the inhabitants.

With masks and gloves if necessary!

We must see this context as a challenge, more than a constraint.

Perhaps this is an opportunity to reinvent ourselves and find new ways to engage our voters.

The pandemic led, during the last municipal elections, to a depoliticization of the ballot and a significant abstention in the ranks of your voters.

Especially in Allauch, where you were a candidate (16% of the vote in the second round).

Don't you fear the re-release of the same scenario on a regional scale?

During this campaign in the Grand Est, the themes will be national.

Whether it is the insecurity or the desertification of a number of villages.

These questions create questions for the French as well as for the inhabitants of the region.

Based on the program of the National Gathering, we will propose concrete and local solutions to national problems.

This election will be very different from a municipal election, where people's daily questions call for pragmatic answers that often go beyond partisan divisions.

When Jean Rottner welcomes the opening of the Grand Mosque in Mulhouse, however held by the “Muslim Brotherhood”, it is obvious that we will not carry the same values.

Jean Rottner, doctor and president of a region particularly affected by the pandemic, in your opinion, will he benefit from a bonus for his management during the crisis?

Insofar as we are entering the campaign, I dare to hope that Jean Rottner will not confuse what relates to the fight against Covid-19 and what relates to his electoral campaign.

I am not sure that the Great East was the region where we fought the pandemic best or the most vaccinated ... I remember in recent weeks that he only had the word "containment" in his mouth .

I believe in another way of doing things, more respectful of the life and expectations of our restaurateurs and our merchants.
