The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its forces repelled an attack with rocket launchers on the Hmeimim base in Latakia countryside.
The deputy director of the Russian Coordination Center in Hmeimim, Marine Major General Vyacheslav Sitnik, said in a statement today that “the Russian air defense forces responded to an attack on the Hmeimim air base using long-range missile launchers,” indicating that the monitoring means determined that the bombing was carried out from areas of terrorist organizations spreading De-escalation in Idlib.
The Russian military official stated that the attack did not result in casualties or material damage, and that the Hmeimim base was operating in a normal system.
Over the past months, the anti-aircraft missiles thwarted dozens of attempts by terrorist groups to attack the safe areas and villages in Latakia countryside and the Hmeimim base by means of drones carrying bombs from deep in their area of deployment in Idlib and Latakia countryside.
