Just as EU boss Ursula von der Leyen slept through the procurement of vaccines, Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier fails to help the self-employed and companies.
No wonder that the federal government has to fend off ever sharper criticism of its corona policy.

The Corona pandemic is an imposition for all of us, said the Chancellor.
That's right.
Nobody wanted this virus, not even politicians, which now have to deal with it.
But the policy of unreasonable demands from the natural disaster should not constantly add further man-made unreasonable demands.
Unfortunately, that's exactly what it does.
Many businesses and the self-employed are struggling to survive because of government measures.
But most of them are still waiting in vain for the full-bodied promised aid.
With every additional day of mismanagement, the risk of mass death among SMEs increases.
Mainly responsible for this is Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier, who, as a permanent guest in TV talk rounds, swings big speeches for the lockdown - but fails to get his ministry to bring the money to the desperate victims.
No doer, nowhere.
Not even in the Ministry of Health, where Jens Spahn slept through the protection of the homes for half a year.
And not in the Chancellery either, which looked the other way when Merkel's girlfriend von der Leyen screwed up the vaccine procurement.
We are stuck in a crisis of the century, but the wheels of the bureaucracy grind as if it were an amendment to the fertilizer ordinance.
B-staff everywhere.
That's enough in good times.
But not now.
And the answer to everything is always lockdown.
In the election year, the Union could find it hard to believe that, wherever you look, there are politicians from the CDU state party who fail miserably in a national crisis and still stick to their chairs.
The only thing we've heard in months is glossing over (“Overall, nothing went wrong”) and excuses.
We can't do it that way.
