A wave of violent attacks on senior citizens of Asian descent in the United States, the state of California state reported today (Thursday), where a wave of xenophobia took a particularly extreme form when an elderly Thai man was beaten to death in broad daylight in San Francisco.
The assault, which was documented in a short video circulated on social media, Vicha Ratnfkadi, was seen being pushed by a young man to the floor with severe violence.
Antonin Weston, a 19-year-old, was arrested on suspicion of carrying out the attack.
Here's what's been going on in the #AsianAmerican community for years.
It's nothing new, but with social media and pages like @nextshark, a lot of it is coming to light.
The video of Vicha Ratanapakdee being attacked is hard to watch ... the 84-year-old died 2 days later.

This is not the only attack on seniors of Asian descent in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In a similar rage that erupted last month, a 91-year-old man was thrown on the sidewalk and suffered insults and kicks in the Chinatown of Auckland.
Authorities in the city are now fearing violence over Chinese New Year events, which are expected to take place next week in the city.
President Biden has signed a presidential decree aimed at tightening the punishment and transferring budgets to education programs against the phenomenon.
White House spokeswoman Jen Pesky said: "I do not know if Hana has seen the difficult videos, but I know he is very concerned about the situation."
This is a new and alarming trend, which is suspected of preventing racist propaganda against China as a spreader of corona disease in the world, propaganda to which Americans from various groups are exposed.
This propaganda began to gain momentum after the spread of the corona virus in the United States and gained traction from the economic and political confrontation between the leadership in China and that in Washington.
