Following the United Kingdom and Canada, Australia updated its travel advice to Hong Kong on February 10, stating that the Hong Kong government no longer recognizes dual nationality and reminding those holding dual Chinese and Australian nationals to have the right to register their Australian nationality at the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
The travel advice pointed out that after the implementation of the "Hong Kong National Security Law", dual citizenship status will no longer be recognized in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The suggestion is that Hong Kong law allows dual nationals of Chinese descent to register for Australian citizenship at the Immigration Department. "If you want to travel to mainland China, (please) use your Australian passport. However, if the local authorities think you are a Chinese citizen , They may refuse to give you access to the services of the Australian consulate.”
The proposal also warns that the "Minato National Security Law" can be widely interpreted, and citizens may inadvertently violate the law; due to the vague definition of the "Minato National Security Law", the risk of national detention may increase.
